Prior to the North Schuylkill Board Meeting on Wednesday evening, the District recognized their 15 retirees.
Superintendent Robert Ackell spoke about each of the retirees in front of a full LGI room.
"Tonight, we gather here to celebrate an extraordinary group of professionals that dedicated their life to education. We have 15 individuals retiring this year, and when I say dedicated their life, I really mean that. When you add the years of time they spent in education, it total 450 years of education dedicated to students." Superintendent Ackell said.
"As we bid farewell to this remarkable group, I am honored to acknowledge them on behalf of the North Schuylkill School District". Ackell said.
A slideshow was presented with each of the retirees that showed a photo of their first day on the job until this year's.
Ackell also provided a history of where each of the employees worked. Some working in other districts and others spending their entire 30+ years in education at North Schuylkill.
The following retirees were recognized with their listed years of service:
- Carole Zimmerman - Paraprofessional - 28 years at North Schuylkill (30 years total)
- Dottie Miller - Aide - 20 years at North Schuylkill
- Doris Phelan - Custodian - 8 years at North Schuylkill
- Jennifer Bell - Elementary Teacher - 33 years at North Schuylkill
- Cheryl Cooper - Elementary Teacher - 30 years at North Schuylkill
- Paula Hornberger - Speech & Language Pathologist - 18 years at North Schuylkill (33 years total)
- Scott Houser - Elementary Teacher - 35 years at North Schuylkill
- Beth Huntsinger - Title Coordinator/Teacher - 39 years at North Schuylkill
- Nancy Kaminsky - Elementary Teacher - 32 years at North Schuylkill
- Lynn Minalda - Health & Physical Education Teacher - 33 years at North Schuylkill
- Sue Prushinski - Secondary Guidance Counselor - 16 years at North Schuylkill (24 years total)
- Ann Subick - Special Education Teacher - 18 years at North Schuylkill (36 years total)
