It's been a good run at the movies for Vidya Balan with films like Mission Mangal, Kahaani, Tumhari Sulu and many more in the last few years. No doubt that she's carved her own niche with women driven movies and proved her mettle as an independent actor. But all this hasn't come easy for the actress.

Interestingly, Vidya has rarely shared screen space with Bollywood's male superstars other than her Mission Mangal co-star, Akshay Kumar. She has never done a film with Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan or Aamir Khan, to name a few. In Salaam-e-Ishq too, she wasn't paired opposite Salman Khan.

Speaking about this career pattern, Vidya shared, "At some point, I felt I'm not being considered for mainstream A-lister superstar films. But I was enjoying the content and being the whole and soul of a film so much that I did choose this over that. But look at it, Mission Mangal has happened and it's not just a romantic lead. It's a prominent role and this is how I'd like it anyway."
